Dublin Event Guide 923: Survival Trick – Blossoms & Bees, Style in the City, Funtropolis, Bohemia Flea Market, Summer Nights on Meeting House Square
Survival Trick
Blossoms & Bees, Style in the City, Funtropolis, Coastival, Bohemia Flea Market, Summer Nights on Meeting House Square
Hi!!
Quick, check out the Sun newspaper, because they are saving the country with their survival tips for this sweltering 29 degrees heat wave. And Met Eireann have issued a yellow weather warning because of “Maximum temperatures in excess of 27°C combined with night-time minima in excess of 15°C expected”. Panic all around!
The potential impact of this? “Uncomfortable sleeping conditions” and “heat stress”. And we are warned (by the Sun newspaper) that we should avoid using the washing machine to keep the temperature in the house lower.
This all reminds me of a situation earlier this year when I was in Africa and it was 24 one evening. We were planning to go to a restaurant that evening and a friend went back to the house to get a jumper because “it gets cold when the temperature drops to 20 degrees”.
It is all relative! 20 degrees is not cold and 27 degrees is not really hot. But somewhere in the world there are people that start shivering at 20 and that feel like they are about to die at 27.
Whatever you feel, try to enjoy the wonderful summer weekend in Ireland … and be glad that we won’t have 41 degrees like they will have in Cordoba in Spain next week.
Oh and to save you from having to buy the Sun: The (surprising) survival trick for this “sweltering heat” is to open the attic hatch! The SUn explains that it will lower the heat in the house, presumably so that you can stay alive. (I am still searching for an attic hatch in the apartment I am living in. – I guess it is “Goodbye world!” for me if I can’t find it.)

Donations in July:
EUR 80
(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)
If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.
The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.
This week the wonderful people that donated to the Dublin Event Guide were Simon, Melanie, Gerard, Suzanne and Rolando. Thank you so much!!! I appreciate you and your donation!
With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses.
Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that Euro! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 4. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.
To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)
In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)
To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG
And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?
Thank you!!

+++ Liberties Festival
From 21-27 July the Liberties Festival will take place and it is one of the oldest festivals in Dublin. There will be a huge amount of events and the vast majority of events are free. Booking is required for many of the events, so you it is advisable that you a already now have a look at the list of events. When you do that, you will see that there are many events that are free, but that list a “Suggested Donation” price. Where you see that, the event is free, but to finance the festival, people that can afford it, are invited to donate.
The festival brochure is at thelibertiesfestival.com/festival-brochure and there is also a link where you can download the PDF. Alternatively you can look for events by day (“Date” in the menu) or by category (“Events” in the menu) at thelibertiesfestival.com/
(At the time of writing this, the font on the website is quite hard to read, but I mentioned this to the organisers and hopefully they will be able to do something about it.)
